Annual salary: Competitive Compensation Package

Genoa offers a competitive compensation package. This position offers a base salary between $80,000 to $100,000. What is this job really like?
  • Prepare 3D design models for a single discipline or a mixture of structure or marine and distributed systems (mechanical/piping, joiner, HVAC or electrical);
  • Interpret technical, detail design and construction drawings related to structural design and marine and distributed systems;
  • Develop specifications, sketches, requirements, and technical drawings into a 3D model using computer-assisted design (CAD) software;
  • Review drawings to ensure the 3D model and associated deliverables are compliant with specifications and standards;
  • Direct the production of functional and detail design drawings for piping and auxiliary systems;
  • Develop 3D product models for new ship construction projects;
  • Lead technical discussions for project reviews; and
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned that relate to technical leadership and integration of Genoa’s projects.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline including production engineering, industrial design, engineering design, or engineering OR the equivalent combination of education, technical training, and work experience;
  • Minimum of eight years’ design experience in related discipline, either structure or marine and distributed systems or a combination;
  • Minimum of eight years’ design experience with marine vessels;
  • Experience in the use of AutoCad, Ship Constructor, Cadmatic or Foran or other ship design software;
  • Experience working within a shipyard would be an asset;
  • Project management experience;
  • Significant leadership and management skills as evidenced by previous work experience;
  • Thorough understanding of quality and continuous improvement;
  • Deductive reasoning/problem solving/decision making skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines; flexible, resourceful and efficient; and
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), presentation and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in a related discipline including naval architecture, marine systems design or equivalent combination of education and technical training, supplemented with a minimum of four years of design experience in a related discipline;
  • Strong technical skills including the ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings;
  • Experience using AutoCAD;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet project deadlines and problem solve;
  • Exposure to a shipyard or production environment is an asset; and
  • Knowledge of ShipConstructor, Rhino and Cadmatic would be considered an asset.
