PSC

The U.S. Polar Security Cutter (PSC) is a new class of icebreaker designed to enhance the United States’ capabilities in the polar regions, particularly the Arctic and Antarctic. Built to replace the aging fleet, the PSC will support national security, economic, and scientific missions. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the PSC will feature greater icebreaking capacity, advanced navigation systems, and enhanced crew accommodations. It will enable the U.S. Coast Guard to maintain a year-round presence in polar waters, ensuring safe passage, supporting search and rescue operations, and conducting vital research to better understand these critical environments.
