Genoa Design International is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Glenn Janes as the\u00a0interim\u00a0Chair of our Board of Directors. Glenn officially assumed the role on April 21, 2021\u00a0and expected to continue in the role for a 12-18 month period.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Genoa thanks past Chair, Mr. Leonard Pecore, for the\u00a0years\u00a0of\u00a0service\u00a0he brought as an advisor and founder, and recognizes how his keen industry and business development insights not only created Genoa but helped shape it into what it is today. Leonard will continue to serve as a Board Director and contribute to the company\u2019s next chapter.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As Genoa continues to grow and evolve, so must\u00a0our\u00a0governance, which is Glenn\u2019s main objective as\u00a0interim\u00a0Chair. He will do this by focusing on people and processes that will match and support the company\u2019s strategic ambitions.\u00a0He will\u00a0also\u00a0play a key role in recruiting the next Chair of the Board.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A respected executive, director, and scholar<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0Glenn has spent his career developing and implementing strategies to successfully finance and commercialize technology locally and internationally.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Initially appointed to Genoa\u2019s Board in\u00a0<\/span>2016,<\/span>\u00a0Glenn also serves on<\/span>\u00a0the Audit and Risk Committee for the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, the Audit and Risk Committee for Small Federal Government Departments, and the Dr. Leonard A Miller Centre Advisory Committee. He has recently served on the St. John\u2019s Board of Trade, the Board of Canadian Adaptive Snowsports (CADS), the Chapter Executive of the Institute for Corporate Directors Newfoundland and Labrador, and as Secretary of the Rhodes Trust for Newfoundland and Labrador.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Genoa is grateful for Glenn\u2019s continued leadership on the Board in his expanded role, and the waves he will surely make now and into the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

Glenn Janes Biography<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Glenn has spent a career developing and implementing strategies to finance and successfully commercialize technology.\u00a0 Most recently he was the founding CEO of the Research & Development Corporation (RDC).\u00a0 Before returning to Canada to launch RDC, Glenn worked with Imperial Innovations Group plc, a leading technology commercialization company, in London, England.\u00a0 He also has extensive experience working with young and growing companies to develop new products, target and penetrate markets, and grow sales.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Glenn currently serves on the Board of Genoa Design International Ltd., the Audit and Risk Committee for the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, the Audit and Risk Committee for Small Federal Government Departments, and the Dr. Leonard A Miller Centre Advisory Committee. He has recently served on the St. John\u2019s Board of Trade, the Board of Canadian Adaptive Snowsports (CADS), and the Chapter Executive of the Institute for Corporate Directors Newfoundland and Labrador. In these capacities he has served on and chaired committees dealing with, among other things, strategy, human resources, finance, and organizational risk. He also served as Secretary of the Rhodes Trust for Newfoundland and Labrador for 10 years (2010-2020).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Glenn is a Rhodes Scholar.\u202f He holds Masters\u2019 degrees in Business Administration, and Environmental Change and Management from Oxford University. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Yale University and holds the Chartered Director (C.Dir.) designation from The Directors College of Canada and the ICD.D from the Institute of Corporate Directors.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Glenn has a personal interest in wine, has completed the first three levels of the Wine Spirits and Education Trust (WSET) international certification, and is currently working on the fourth, and final, level.\u00a0 He enjoys working with Tumbler, the family Chocolate lab, and they have completed numerous agility courses together.\u00a0 When time permits, he also enjoys playing drums, a pursuit of nearly 40 years!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
