Genoa Celebrates 22 Years of Success at Workboat

It was another successful year for Genoa at the International WorkBoat Show in New Orleans, Louisiana, marking 22 years of exhibiting at the largest commercial marine trade show in North America. In an ever-changing industry, the WorkBoat Show has been that one constant and continues to be a significant resource for opportunity at Genoa.

Fortunately, there was a familiar energy and buzz throughout the show this year that was missing in 2021 due to the pandemic. With restrictions lifted, it was great to see such high attendance and an influx of international companies throughout the show floor.

Incomparable to any other trade show in the industry, the International WorkBoat Show provides a unique opportunity for Genoa to meet like-minded individuals and businesses aiming for the same goal: to continue to grow the shipbuilding industry in North America and globally.

From shipyards, to engineers, to every niche service vital to the lifecycle of a vessel, the show floor is a mix of suppliers providing new and traditional technologies and services integral to the industry’s success.

Giving Back to the Community

While the business aspect of the show is critically important, just as important is Genoa’s commitment to supporting the communities where we work, where our partners work, and where our employees call home. This commitment is deeply rooted in Genoa’s mission.

For the last six years, Genoa has committed to supporting a local non-profit organization each time we exhibit at WorkBoat. It is our way of thanking New Orleans for its hospitality.

This year, Genoa partnered with Upturn Arts, a fun and creative program that teaches children in the New Orleans community to explore and build confidence in themselves as artists. Upturn Arts believes in providing arts enrichment opportunities for all children and never turns students away due to financial restraints. In addition, they provide after-school and day-long summer and holiday programming to all children in the New Orleans community.

To date, Genoa has contributed over $12,000 to the local community, supporting charities such as the SPCA, New Orleans Mission, New Orleans Children’s Hospital, Roots of Music, and UpTurn Arts. In 2021, Genoa also supported Jefferson Parish in New Orleans by providing supplies after Hurricane Ida in 2021.

As we look ahead to 2023 and begin planning for another year of trade shows throughout North America, our pursuit of supporting organizations within the provinces and states that host our team will continue. But it doesn’t end there. This year, we will be challenging other companies attending the International WorkBoat show to join us in our mission, with the prospect of making a massive difference to the community of New Orleans. Stay tuned for more details on that initiative!
